Is University really worth it?

Hi everyone! This is my first ever blog and instead of writing all about me, I thought you will all get to know me as I continue to write more posts!

We are now in May, which is honestly the worst month of the year when you're in education, because this is a month full of exams and constant stress! Whether you're doing GCSE's, A-Level's or getting your degree you are going to worry about exams.

If you haven't decided if University is for you then hopefully this will help you out.

I cannot emphasise enough how University is sadly NOTHING like what you see in the films!!! I am going to tell you my experience so far at University as I am coming to the end of my first-year.

Once you have moved in and met all your flatmates it's extremely exciting, you're ready to throw yourself into freshers and make as many friends as you possibly can. Honestly, freshers was the best time at University because everyone's just a drunk mess and you're altogether making memories(one's that you can remember anyway). After this reality begins, you actually wake up and realise you came to University to actually learn something not to just go clubbing every night!

As the months go on, you will notice which people are suited to your personality and those who aren't, especially if you're living in a flat shared with other people. I have spoken to others at uni and it's not only my flat that doesn't get along, many others don't, so if this happens to you or is happening - you aren't the only ones! Get ready for the most petty ridiculous arguments of your life, if you thought year 7 was bad when it came to petty arguments, my flat is divided and don't talk to each over a BIN. Yes... A BIN!!!! So for roughly 5 months the kitchen has been filled with awkward tension because some people just love arguing. Which may also make you realise, not everyone will live like you have at home and you may also be willing to adapt but just realise not everyone is willing to do this. I am not saying my whole flat is awful, I have made best friends for life from it but also people I never want to see again.

I would also suggest that if the job you want to do in the future doesn't require having a degree, then it's not worth it. I feel like the amount we pay (£9,250) is ridiculously over priced for sitting in a lecture not having a clue what on earth is going on then just having to teach yourself what to do when it comes to the essays anyway. Then again, having a degree always looks good, right? I wish my future job didn't rely on me having a degree as I personally really struggle with exams but I am determined to get my dream job of being a news anchor.

Everybody on my course get's along (there aren't many of us but still) which makes talking about assignments a lot easier as you're all usually thinking one thing ... that you have no idea what's going on! Eventually, you'll always figure it out and pass in the end.

Having your friends around you all the time makes University an unforgettable experience and will also give you that bit of independence that I'm sure you'll love. If you're someone like me, who's mum has always done everything for you and you've never cooked a meal in your life until you get to uni, I would recommend going to a uni that isn't miles and miles away, just in case you do need that bit of comfort or your laundry done - as you also have to pay for that in uni halls too, they aren't too far but far enough to not be in your face everyday and gain independence slowly.

Overall, you will meet so many new people from all over the country and globally but if you are debating whether or not university is for you, then maybe write down all the pro's and cons and see what you come up with!

Thanks to uni and exam season it has made me procrastinate so much that I have finally started my blog as I have wanted to start it for a long time!
